Friends of Waterfront Park
Friends of Waterfront Park is a 501c3 not for profit responsible for fundraising, stewarding, and programming at Waterfront Park alongside community – today and into the future. Friends works in close partnership with the Office of the Waterfront and Civic Project and Seattle Center to ensure a welcoming, safe, and beautiful park experience for all visitors.
Friends was established in 2012 as City officials and civic leaders recognized that, like great public park spaces in major cities across the country, Waterfront Park would benefit from nonprofit leadership to ensure its lasting success. With its civic and community partners, Friends is leading a new approach to public space, creating a new model for urban park space and centering communities of color who have been historically underrepresented and excluded, with the goal of creating an inclusive, safe, and welcoming space for everyone.
